Hold the down button on the controller and point at an objective. then press R1. u can also give commands by pressing select to view the CNI map, then selecting the objective. as for special abilities, those can only be done as a platoon leader. hold the left button while aiming at the area you want to destroy. press L2 and R2 to toggle between strikes, and press R1 to call it in.

I would suggest running Linux (first source). There are some Media Centers in development (one of the better ones is the second link), but they either are not in English or have flaws. I actually got some media centers working off of the PS3 that are meant for PC, but I do not think it will replace your PC due to its low processing speed.
